Yes – the actual “Surf King”!

When we were lucky enough to have Jonny Rubin aka “Dr Funk” as an Endorsed Artist he came up with a crazy idea – and I went along with him.

Being a resident Surfing Bass Busker down in Newquay at the time Jonny had a vision of surfing the waves with his Bass in hand – and we made his vision a reality.

The result was an incredible spectacle enjoyed by many across the World, but what surprised us most of all was that – after a little drying time – his “Surk King” Bass didn’t fall apart and unbelievably it still played!!! The Neck and Body are still solid and the surface cracks seen on the body are just to the lacquer.

I subsequently changed the pots as they were a bit noisy and restrung it then put it back into service with Jonny who used it on many subsequent videos.

Regrettably Jonny decided to move on to bigger and better things and is now living his dream in California.
